Rebuild – 3D Typography Experiment

This design was done, I think in 2007.  I was just tinkering around with some 3D lettering for a new Go Media poster.  The poster was actually going to be a collab between myself, Bill, Dave, and Oliver (most of the designers at Go Media at the time).  We were each assigned a corner of the poster and we had to trick-out one of the words in “Rebuild the Aesthetic.”  Some may have seen this coming, but each designer went nuts and make a crazy piece of art.  And when we put them together it looked like hell!  Needless to say, we scrapped the idea.  So now this piece of history lives in my portfolio.

What software was used to create this? I haven’t gotten into 3-D anything, but this is inspiring me to do so. Great stuff.

as much as i like this design and the font used, i feel that larger and vertical “RE” could have been a little different, esp the “R”… i feel that that chunk is a lil’ disconnected… but the texture, depth and the angle is very dynamic. reminds me of a typewriter !

@subi, yeah I know what you mean. The “R” does look a little odd.
